Porto Franco Aluado Alicante Bouschet 2017

Porto Franco Aluado Alicante Bouschet 2017

No matter the color of their skins, 99% of grape varieties have white pulp, meaning it’s the skins (not the juice) that give red wines their color and main tannic structure. Alicante Bouschet is one of the only exceptions: its red pulp allows winemakers to craft flavorful, yet soft, reds without soaking the skins.

TASTING NOTES: This wine’s viscous texture and spicy, blackberry favors are reminiscent of Port. Prevalent tannins provide balance and structure.

PAIRINGS: Blue cheese, cherry-glazed lamb, chocolate fondue.
