Andreas Gsellmann Blaufränkisch 2015

Andreas Gsellmann Blaufränkisch 2015

Austria holds more organic land than any other country in the EU, and
Gsellmann is a stellar example of this sustainable ethos: to rid vines of pests,
for instance, they spray stinging nettle tea (a skin irritant), which also reinforces the vine’s immune system and boosts resistance to mildew and fungus.

Tasting Notes: A delicate blackberry nose meets red currant, damp
wood, and baking spices with wonderfully silky tannin on the palate. Yum.

Pairings: Meaty salmon, creamy mushroom pasta, ratatouille.

Varietal: Blaufränkisch
Soil Types: black earth, quartz sand, sea gravel
Fermentation: spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel
Aging: 6 months in oak
