Christophe Pacalet Saint-Amour 2016

Christophe Pacalet Saint-Amour 2016

This time of year is defined by Beaujolais-Nouveau, a “gulpable” wine that’s made very quickly. The region at large, however, is home to much nicer options, particularly within the 10 villages of the Beaujolais Cru, such as Saint-Amour, where reds exhibit more body, balance, and complexity.

Tasting Notes: A bold, beautiful red with strong notes of tart cherry, macerated strawberries, spice, wood smoke, and forest moss.

Pairings: Turkey, meaty stuffing, lamb, veggie burgers.

Varietal: Gamay
Soil Types: granite, clay, limestone
Fermentation: carbonic maceration & fermentation in tanks
Aging: 5 to 10 months in oak on fine lees
