After 30 years of research, oenologists discovered Sangiovese’s adaptive qualities and over 57 variations in Tuscany alone. Each is so unique that wine experts often mistake clones for blends. Prugnolo Gentile, the clone featured here, is dominant in Montepulciano on the outskirts of Tuscany.

Tasting Notes: This wine boasts an aromatic nose of incense, cassia bark, dark prunes, and peppermint. On the palate, you’ll find vanilla, baking spices, and dusty cocoa nibs amidst forcefully building tannin.

Pairings: Thin crust pizza or flatbread, spaghetti & meatballs.
