Vinkara Kalecik Karasi 2014

Vinkara Kalecik Karasi 2014

Rumored to be the birthplace of wine 15,000 years ago, Anatolia is rife with history and terroir. Winemakers in the area are dedicated to the Kalecik Karasi grape, as it came dangerously close to extinction several years ago, but was brought back to life by French and Turkish oenologists.

Tasting Notes: Mulch, mushrooms, and blackberry compote emerge immediately, while a light coffee roast, dark cherry, and subdued minerality creep stealthily into the background for a familiar, yet exotic flavor.

Pairings: Lamb with yogurt sauce, falafel, doner kebab.

Varietal: hand-harvested kalecik karasi
Soil Type: clay, stone
Fermentation: cold maceration; stainless steel
Aging: 12 months in stainless steel
