Vino Lauria Zibibbo Siciliane 2014

Vino Lauria Zibibbo Siciliane 2014

Zibibbo, also called Muscat of Alexandria, is an ancient grape varietal from Egypt that’s one of the oldest, unmodified vines in existence. In nearby Sicily, Vito Lauria makes biodynamic wines in Alcamo, a 9th century Muslim city, on his family’s plot after the vineyard had been abandoned for decades.

Tasting Notes: Fresh pineapple, homemade popcorn, almond, citrus, and ginger emerge from the first sip and give way to a lip-smacking, nearly salty minerality. Don’t serve too cold as it may actually mute the flavors.

Pairings: Salmon, cod, chicken, pork, oysters, and shellfish.

Varietal: Zibibbo
Soil Type: calcareous soil
Fermentation: 15 day cold-soak fermentation
Aging: stainless steel
Special Notes: only 4,000 bottles produced
