Yves Leccia Patrimonio Rouge 2013

Yves Leccia Patrimonio Rouge 2013

Corsica was once known for its wine; however, a series of Islamic, Italian, and French dominions caused wine laws and regulations to change with each reign until a unique style emerged, mostly resembling Genoese and Tuscan varieties (namely Sangiovese, believed to be a clone of Niellucciu).

Tasting Notes: Gunpowder, flint, and wet stone give way to black pepper and smoke on the nose while pomegranate, plum, and sour cherry combine with fine tannins to craft a powerful, yet elegant wine.

Pairings: Grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, smoked sea bass, baked Brie.

Varietals: hand-harvested Grenache, hand-harvested Niellucciu
Soil Type: clay, limestone, schist
Fermentation: 12 to 15 day fermentation in stainless steel
Aging: 12 months
